2) Take medicines on your regular schedule until 6 hours before the procedure, unless instructed by our staff. Remember: A-1 above.
3) Arrive 1 hour before your procedure time for nursing preparation at the WAVERLEY SURGERY CENTER 400 Forest Ave. Palo Alto, CA 94304.
C. BRAVO pH RECEIVER AND PATIENT DIARY
1) You will take the Bravo pH receiver and diary home for the next 48 or 96 hours after the endoscopy (as instructed by Dr. Young).
2) The purpose of pH monitoring is to monitor the frequency and duration of gastroesophageal reflux during a normal day. It is important that you eat, drink, work and exercise as you NORMALLY would. Without carrying out your normal day, the test results may not reflect an accurate picture of your esophageal pH exposure.
3) Record events (i.e. meals and sleep) in the patient diary using the time of the receiver’s display. The endoscopy staff will review this with you before placement of the pH capsule.
4) During the pH study symptoms (Heartburn, Regurgitation, Chest Pain) can be recorded in a diary or automatically recorded by pressing the appropriate symptom button.
5) To confirm that the button has been pressed, a green indicator light remains lit for 3 seconds and a beep is heard if this feature is turned on.
6) If the receiver is too far from the bravo capsule, a beep will be heard for 30 seconds and the display will flash P1 or P2. Move the receiver to your breastbone until the beep stops and the P1 or P2 is not longer visible.
7) If you have any problems or questions during your study, please call our office at (650) 324-8881.
8) At the completion of your pH study, return the receiver and your diary to the WAVERLEY SURGERY CENTER 400 Forest Ave. Palo Alto, CA 94304 as instructed by the staff.
This information is intended for patients of Dr. Harvey Young only.
